Barry Sheene (1950-2003)
Showing Sheene caning his 1976 Suzuki XR14 RG500 to victory. The coolest rider on the grid, Sheene liked the high life and lived it to the full. Known for his trade mark 'Donald Duck' graphic on his helmet, he drilled a hole in the chin piece of his crash helmet so he could smoke a cigarette while waiting on the starting grid.
Barry Sheene raced from 1971 to 1984, winning the 500cc World Championships in 1976 and 1977 riding for Suzuki. In 1975 Sheene had a major accident in the US. He suffered severe injuries including; a broken left femur, right arm, collarbone and two ribs. 7 weeks later he was sat in pole position at the 175 Dutch TT.
